Why Place Matters

In a recent blog article featured on Urban Wire, Urban Institute author Laudy Aron comments on the relationship between place and disadvantage and the effects on health outcomes. She outlines several policy steps that are needed to ensure that all Americans have access to support and resources they need to live “healthy, productive, and fulfilling lives.” Her blog article can be found here.

Aron is a a senior fellow in the Center on Labor, Human Services, and Population at the Urban Institute, one of the partner organizations of the VCU Center on Society and Health, and served as co-editor with director Steven Woolf on the 2013 National Research Council and Institute of Medicine report: US Health in International Perspective: Shorter Lives, Poorer Health. A previous Health Affairs blog article by Aron was highlighted on our blog site in November and can be found here.
