New York City homelessness officials are preparing for a surge in homelessness as school lets out. Many families have been staving off homelessness as long as possible so that children could finish the school year.

New York City homelessness officials are preparing for a surge in homelessness as school lets out.  Many families have been staving off homelessness as long as possible so that children could finish the school year.  This spring, the number of homeless families in New York City was already up 20% over the previous year, and officials expect a higher than ever number of homeless families this summer.
