A New York Times feature shows the changes in unemployment rates across the nation. The highest unemployment rates are now concentrated in the South and the West. Nevada has the highest jobless rate at 13.4%, followed by California (12.1%) and Michigan (11.2%). Several Southern states, including South Carolina with an unemployment rate of 11.1% have higher unemployment rates than they did a year ago.
