<\/font><\/font>The Food Research and Action Center <\/a>released a report on the national School Breakfast Program for the school year 2007-2008. <\/span>Selected findings<\/p>\n

<\/font><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/font>The School Breakfast Program is reaching more low-income children: 4% more low-income children participated in 2007-2008 compared to the previous year.<\/font><\/span><\/font><\/div>\n<\/li>\n

<\/font>Participation by schools grew 1.1% last year: 85.7% of schools that participate in the School Lunch Program now offer breakfast as well.<\/font><\/span><\/font><\/div>\n<\/li>\n

\n<\/span><\/font><\/p>\n

<\/font>States vary in the ratio of low-income children in the School Lunch Program to the School Breakfast Program. <\/span>The ten states with the highest ratio include New Mexico, South Carolina, West Virginia, Oklahoma, Kentucky, Mississippi, Georgia, Idaho, Vermont and Arkansas. <\/span>In these states, there are from 53.9 to 62.9 children receiving breakfast for every 100 children participating in the School Lunch Program.<\/font><\/span><\/font><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
